PETALING JAYA: The home ministry has seized RM1.1 million worth of sex toys in Penang in an operation involving online businesses.

Nik Yusaimi Yussof, secretary of the ministry’s regulatory and enforcement division, said the items seized included sex dolls and other sex toys which were banned in Malaysia.

They were seized from a warehouse in Bukit Mertajam, Penang.

He said the business had been operating since last year, and the sex toys were believed to have been made abroad.

Nik Yusaimi said an investigation paper has been opened under Section 7(1) of the Printing Presses and Publications Act 1984 for undesirable publications and Section 292(a) of the Penal Code for selling obscene goods.

“A 29-year-old woman was arrested and charged in the Bukit Mertajam magistrates’ court on March 2. The suspect pleaded guilty and was fined RM5,000,” he said in a statement today.

He warned that stern action will be taken against anyone involved in elements that could harm the nation’s morals, public peace, security or interests.

He urged those with information on similar cases to contact the ministry at 03-80008000 or through its website at
